Yes, that's exactly what it seems - a robot that can watch a human face and make a fairly reasonable scheme of it. Featured on the Kinetica London art fair last week, 2 Aikon project has a "low cost" robot arm and the software developed by a research team at Goldsmiths University of London. As you might have guessed, the creation of a device with rudimentary artistic ability is not just - the main developer to try to understand and simulate the processes by which designers of the human face, including: visual perception of the subject and the sketch drawing gestures, cognitive activity, reasoning, and the influence of training. The project website emphasizes that "due to knowledge and the technological limitations of the execution of each process will remain thick and approximate." In other words, the robot is expected to draw its own style. " That is, frankly, better than we do. We hope to see these things in the cafes of the future, where robots not only get us drinks, but chat with girls with offers to draw their portraits. Video after the break.
